Life gets very difficult for people as the ageing process takes hold and they begin to lose their faculties. I don't think they enjoy shopping in supermarkets any more than I enjoy waiting for them to count out their change at the till. They tend to get in the way and move very slowly causing significant annoyance to other shoppers. I propose that they be banned from entering supermarkets during peak times and encouraged to shop on-line. The supermarkets could offer free deliveries to pensioners who shop on-line and thus free up the shops for people in a hurry. This might also discourage old people from using supermarkets as a social meeting place. It would be preferable if they stuck to bingo halls and churches.
I agree, I was going to suggest old people could do our shopping on our behalf so we don't have to suffer the place. However they would not be able to read the shopping list cos they would forget their glasses and you would end up with a packet of rich tea biscuits, a bag of foxes glacier mints and some tins of soup.
Banning from peak times seems reasonable. After all, they have all day to go to the shops, why do it at the peak times?
While we are at it, we should ban all prams and pushchairs from peak times and allow you to punch anyone in the face for leaving their trolley in the middle of the aisle, blocking it off and interfering with a good charge down it.
And the bit about counting change... why not make payment by card only? Surely everyone has a bank card these days, and if not, they can go and get one.
