Is banning children from creating Father's Day cards 'sensitive' or simply crazy?

ban cars parking in cycle lanes
Written by pagoda39 the 22 Jun 08 at 22:48. Category: Transport. Location: UK-wide. New
While Edinburgh is reasonably served by cycle lanes, this is negated by cars parking in an ad hoc manner, making cyclists have to swerve out into the main area of the road dangerously. Double yellow lines should be in place where there are cycle lanes to avoid this.

Increase the age limit for off-licence sales to 21
Written by ConcernedCitizen the 16 Jun 08 at 18:35. Category: Health. Location: UK-wide. Scottish National Party
The SNP are considering raising the earliest age at which alcohol can be bought at off-licences from 18 to 21.

This follows a trial in Armadale which reportedly resulted in a reduction in alcohol-related antisocial behaviour.

Donald Trump's proposed golf resort at Balmedie Beach, Aberdeenshire
Written by ConcernedCitizen the 12 Jun 08 at 09:37. Category: Economy and Taxation. Location: Aberdeen. New
Described variously by Donald Trump as a "masterpiece", environmentally friendly and a source of "great pride, revenue and employment" in a letter to Aberdeen councillors, Trump International Golf Links certainly looks good on paper.

The planned development includes two championship standard golf courses, a 5-star hotel, state-of-the-art golf academy, turf grass research centre and many residential properties.

More details can be found at http://www.trumpgolfscotland.com/development_plans/development_plans.asp

Balmedie Beach
The proposed site at Balmedie Beach forms part of the Foveran Links Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has suggested that the mobile dunes at the site would be destroyed by the necessary stabilisation required for the construction of a golf course.

Economic impact
Those in favour of the Resort cite in support of it the estimated £1bn of investment into Scotland's economy which would be brought, along with an injection of jobs, and a boost to the nation's tourism and sports industries.

Politics
The issue has been 'called in' by the Scottish Parliament, for determination by the Scottish Ministers instead of local planning authorities.

Ban Lloyd Webber-related reality TV
Written by melat0nin the 12 Jun 08 at 08:37. Category: Media. Location: UK-wide. New
'The Lord' is milking weekend evening TV for all its worth, and it's about time this was stopped.

We've had Joseph and now Nancy, and I reckon that's probably about enough.

Ban old people from using supermarkets
Written by StevenT the 10 Jun 08 at 16:00. Location: UK-wide. New
Life gets very difficult for people as the ageing process takes hold and they begin to lose their faculties. I don't think they enjoy shopping in supermarkets any more than I enjoy waiting for them to count out their change at the till.
They tend to get in the way and move very slowly causing significant annoyance to other shoppers. I propose that they be banned from entering supermarkets during peak times and encouraged to shop on-line. The supermarkets could offer free deliveries to pensioners who shop on-line and thus free up the shops for people in a hurry. This might also discourage old people from using supermarkets as a social meeting place. It would be preferable if they stuck to bingo halls and churches.

Reduce fuel duty by 20-25 pence within a week
Written by ConcernedCitizen the 10 Jun 08 at 16:00. Category: Transport. Location: UK-wide. New
Protesting Hauliers are demanding the government reduce fuel duty by 20-25 pence within 7 days, or they will blockade refineries and ports.
