60% increase in number of immigrant detention places

The government's UK Border Agency plans to increase the number of immigrant detention places by between 1,300 and 1,500 according to immigration minister Liam Byrne.

Patient contracts to ensure NHS quality of service

The Liberal Democrats propose a 'Patient Contract' which will "guarantee every citizen access to a high standard of core healthcare entitlements within maximum waiting times."

Patients would also be able to private treatment, funded by the NHS, if waiting times are not met.
